1. What's happening?

President Trump’s administration is continuously attacking funding for science across the country. Their actions threaten the economy and national health, as well as stunt future growth. Congress should work to ensure that federal grant funding is permanently restored and that future executive orders cannot overstep the power of the executive branch - congress already appropriated these funds. Letting congress know our sentiments requires a united voice to protect our community which depends on these funds. If you share our concern, we urge you to follow these quick and simple instructions to contact your representatives and make our collective voice heard.

Raising our voices now can help prevent current and future withholding. Below are links to some background information and a tracker for the trump administration's progress on their agenda.

2. Why should I care?

The science these grants fund greatly affects your day to day life. For example, think about groceries, or smartphones. If a disease (like avian flu) breaks out in chickens, NSF and NIH funded scientists will be on the front lines finding ways to stop it. Also, grant-funded scientists are discovering new materials to make computer chips out of, which can make computers and phones better. There are countless other impacts: for more information, click here.
